Q: What is the focus of OASIS-C changes?
A:

CMS has revised seven process measures in OASIS-C to identify at discharge whether agencies followed through with the patient’s intervention plans for pressure ulcers, depression, pain, diabetic foot care, heart failure, fall risk, and medications.

Specifically by form — the Start of Care and Resumption of Care OASIS places more emphasis on pain control, integumentary status (includes staging wounds, case management of how to treat or prevent breakdown, screening for risk of breakdown, informing doctor of problems, and if a problem is found an action plan to address the situation, neuro/emotional/behavioral status (including depression screening), current level of ability to perform ADLs and IADLs (including whether or not they have adequate help from a primary caregiver), and focus on case management for diabetes, wounds, neuro/emotional, medication management.

For transfer/discharge OASIS there are new questions regarding did the patient receive the flu vaccine, did the patient receive the pneumococcal vaccine, and questions regarding cardiac status. Shop now
