Governor Chet Culver proclaimed the week of October 7-13 as Nursing Home Culture Change Week
Recognizing that nursing homes are staffed by caregivers who are there to help their residents live lives of meaning and joy, the proclamation encourages all Iowans to support efforts to transform nursing homes to a more home-like environment.
The Iowa Person Directed Care Coalition is shown with the proclamation, along with guest Barbara Frank. Barbara is a nationally known expert on person directed care who recently spoke with the coalition about how providers can improve their care outcomes by individualizing care to residents and support to staff.
