Joint Commission Announces 2007 National Patient
Safety Goals for Assisted Living Facilities

The Joint Commission announced the 2007 National Patient Safety Goals and Related Requirements that will apply specifically to accredited assisted living facilities.

There are no major additions to this fifth annual issuance of Assisted Living National Patient Safety Goals, which were recently approved by the Joint Commission’s Board of Commissioners. However, new language in one of the two Requirements under the existing medication reconciliation goal now stipulates that a complete list of current medications be provided to the patient upon discharge from care.
