NASPAC - Briggs University - CRNAC and Other MDS Training Now Available Online

DES MOINES, IA (October 5, 2007)
- The National Association of Subacute and Post Acute Care (NASPAC) and Briggs Corporation announce their joint venture, NASPAC-Briggs University. NASPAC-Briggs University is an online educational program for members of the health care industry.

By participating in NASPAC’s online Certified Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator (CRNAC) training program each participant will become certified in MDS. Also available is the MDS Beginner’s Course Line-by-Line which details the MDS process in a simple but detailed explanation. The MDS Beginner’s Course Line-By-Line is designed for people just starting or who have limited experience with MDS. The program allows the professional to learn to accurately assess, item by item, the implications of how the MDS response will effect the quality of care and how the MDS links to outcomes.

Working in collaboration with Bellevue University in Omaha, Nebraska, these online courses are now available. These web training courses will earn each attendee Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits online. The courses were designed based on the desire of the health care community to establish an on-demand web based training program to reduce time out of the office, hotel costs and other travel expenses.

Some of the key topics covered by the CRNAC training program include Coordinating the MDS/Prospective Payment System (PPS) process, MDS/Documentation Review, Record Review, PPS-Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) III, Billing Issues, Quality Indicators and Measures, and CRNAC’s roles and responsibilities. Professionals completing the CRNAC Certification or the Re-Certification Examination will earn 14 CEUs. Upon completion of the MDS Beginner’s Course Line-by-Line 7.4 CEUs will be earned.
