New 2008 OASIS Forms Available Now
DES MOINES, IA (December 3, 2007) - New
OASIS forms designed to meet 2008 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
(CMS) standards that go into effect later this year are now available for review
and pre-release ordering at BriggsCorp.com, web site
of the industry’s largest distributor of regulatory and compliance
documentation.
CMS has mandated that home care agencies must use the forms to ensure compliance with new reporting standards related to pay-for-performance in areas of both clinical compliance and financial reimbursement.
Briggs
is one of the industry’s first form manufacturers to make the revised versions
available. OASIS
forms for re-certification must be used starting December 27, 2007. All other
forms in the OASIS series will go into effect
January 1,
2008.
Briggs clinical consultant, Kristy Petersen, who oversaw the updates, said about the new forms, “From the moment CMS announced that the changes were required, the Briggs staff has been working diligently to make sure our customers have the tools they need to reflect accurately both clinical and financial information.”
“Though change is sometimes difficult in a health care setting, especially when it involves the amount and scope of what we just went through, I am confident that our OASIS forms will make the transition much easier,” states Petersen.
According to Petersen, all of the Briggs OASIS therapy forms have been reviewed by a physical therapist, which will enhance the accuracy of documentation and improve reimbursement for therapy.
The OASIS physical therapy assessment forms offered by Briggs were developed with assistance from Cindy Krafft, Senior Clinical Consultant of home care consultants, Fazzi Associates. She is also the current Vice President of the Home Health Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Availability of the revised forms follows an announcement that home care agencies using Briggs OASIS forms have better outcomes than a national comparison group of home care agencies, according to a recent study.
The study was conducted by OCS, Inc., a leading health care data and analytics company specializing in collecting, evaluating and interpreting health care information to produce reliable fact-based insights.
In the study, 73 home care agencies known to have used Briggs OASIS Assessments during 2006 were compared to a national norm of agencies not using Briggs OASIS Assessments.
Measures tested included the ten current publicly-reported Home Health Compare quality measures established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), two additional quality measures released by CMS that will be publicly-reported in 2008 and resource utilization indicators. The full report is available at BriggsCorp.com or by calling 515-327-6540.
From nursing and
therapy-specific forms to unique, time-saving scannable forms, Briggs OASIS
documentation solutions support positive patient outcomes, and a free training
program is also available with a clinician on staff. There are currently
discounts being offered to new customers and for orders placed before
December 31,
2007 as well.
